ILT20 2024: All clubs’ playoff qualification possibilities

Only MI Emirates, who defeated the Desert Vipers handily, have guaranteed a playoff berth in the ILT20 2024 after 22 games have been played. Five teams are fighting for the final three berths in the first round, which has little over a week left. As the competition heats up, anticipation is growing for exciting moments to come in the upcoming ILT20 season two.

The qualifying scenarios for ILT20 2024 for each team are as follows:

MI Envoys 0f ILT20

MI Emirates defeated the Desert Vipers and Sharjah Warriors back-to-back to secure a playoff berth. With an outstanding 2.055 net run rate in their first eight games, Emirates scored 12 points. Because of their strong net run rate, they might still place in the top two even if they lose their next games against the Gulf Giants and the Dubai Capitals. To keep their current position, though, they need to win their remaining games without suffering any major losses.

Knight Riders of Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have won two straight games and are now second in the standings with eight points from seven games played. With two games left versus the Sharjah Warriors among their three remaining league games, their chances of making the playoffs are good. They will make the playoffs if they win two games in the last leg. If the Giants are defeated and the Dubai Capitals make a mistake, they will guarantee a spot in Qualifier 1 on February 13 in Dubai. But a series of defeats could endanger their hopes, particularly given their -0.401 negative run rate at the moment.

Gulf Power ILT20

Third-placed Gulf Giants, with six points and a positive net run rate (NRR), defeated Sharjah Warriors by a convincing 79 runs on Sunday in Dubai, giving them a major lead in the title fight. A victory in their final three games guarantees a spot in the playoffs. Their high NRR gives hope even in the event of a defeat; however, it is dependent on other match outcomes. But elimination is a real possibility if they lose all of their remaining games and keep six points, particularly since the Gulf Giants and the three bottom-place teams—Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, and Sharjah Warriors—currently have the same number of points.

Vipers in the Desert

The Desert Vipers, the runners-up from the previous season, have played one more game than their competitors and are now at six points. They are now in fourth place in the standings after their most recent defeat against MI Emirates. The Vipers will look to win their final two league games, especially against lower-tier clubs like the Capitals and Warriors.

The Desert Vipers need to win both of their remaining games in order to guarantee a postseason position. They also need the Dubai Capitals and Sharjah Warriors to lose at least one more game in order to avoid elimination. The Desert Vipers might be eliminated with just one loss if the Dubai Capitals or Sharjah Warriors win two of their final three games to earn ten points.

The Dubai Capitals

After suffering four losses in their first seven games, the Dubai Capitals are still searching for momentum in the midst of a difficult season. They are now ranked second to last in the standings with a negative net run rate of -0.308. The Caps may still decide their own destiny, though, since winning their final three games will ensure qualifying. Alternatively, if they win two games and tie the Gulf Giants and Desert Vipers, they will have 10 points, but the Sharjah Warriors lose a game and still have 10 points. The Capitals can guarantee their spot with a higher NRR than the Warriors.

Warriors of Sharjah

Sharjah Warriors are level with the Gulf Giants and Dubai Capitals in terms of points, but their unsettling net run rate of -1.65 clouds their season and keeps them at the bottom of the standings. In order to qualify, the Warriors need to win their final three games, which include two against the Knight Riders and one against the Desert Vipers.

Alternatively, if the Giants or the Capitals lose two or more of their last three games, two wins—including one against the Vipers—might be enough. But the Warriors’ chances of making the playoffs will be lost if they lose two games.
