Odisha Police unravels miscreants involved in illegal marketing of India-England 2nd ODI tickets

India won the first ODI at the VCA Stadium on February 6 to start the ODI series on a high note after winning the T20I series 4-1. Fans’ excitement to get tickets for the forthcoming cricket matches has exploded as the second match of the series is set to take place at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium.

It is clear from all of India’s games that when tickets are in short supply, people resort to illegal ways to ensure they don’t miss the action.

Due to this demand, a number of middlemen seize the tickets and profit from the higher demand by reselling them at an exorbitant price.

The Deccan Chronicle claims that on February 7, Odisha Police confiscated 25 tickets and Rs 30,000 in cash in addition to arresting seven people who were engaged in ticket black marketing. Following accusations against the persons for selling illegal tickets, the action was taken. According to police sources, the inquiry resulted in the arrest of three individuals in the Dargaha Bazaar area and the arrest of four more by the cantonment police.

However, fans flocked to the Barabati Stadium box office to purchase tickets, and as the crowd became unruly, a chaotic scene quickly developed. This led to a rush as well, and the organisers blamed the accident on their inadequate departure planning. Additionally, a video that showed a woman selling blackened tickets for INR 5000 after the customer haggled for INR 4,000 quickly made its way onto TV screens.
