I had promised my family that I'll score a hundred for my brother. Sarfraz Khan

Indian cricket is no stranger to domestic cricket and Sarfraz Khan’s wizardry at the bat, as evidenced by the current Irani Cup. Khan resumed his insane run-making when playing for Mumbai once more against the Rest of India, recording an undefeated double tonne in Lucknow (222). After his innings, Khan talked about his blitzkrieg and the emotional turn of events his family had to go through recently.

Musheer Khan, Sarfraz Khan brother, was scheduled to compete in the current Irani Cup, but circumstances changed. Musheer suffered a fracture to his neck in a car accident on the way to Lucknow, which prevented him from competing in the crucial competition.

But Sarfraz Khan brought up a beautiful double tonne and made up for the younger brother in the nicest way possible.

The 26-year-old claimed that if he crossed the 50-run threshold, he would smash a hundred for his injured brother as well, as he had promised his family and teammates. The Mumbai player broke multiple records en route to a magnificent double tonne, in addition to standing tall on his words.

“This week has been really emotional for me. After Day 3 of the Irani Cup, Sarfraz Khan remarked, “I had promised my family and teammates that if I am set if I cross the fifty, I will score a double hundred – a hundred for me and a hundred for my brother Musheer Khan

“Abbu (father Naushad) would have been happier if Muskeer had participated in the game. Regretfully, he had an incident. I therefore felt that I had to win this game by scoring two tonnes,” he continued.

On Day 2 of the Irani Cup, Sarfaraz broke Ramnath Parkar’s 1972 record of 195 runs by scoring the most runs by a Mumbai batter.

As of right present, Khan is the fourth-youngest player in the Irani Cup to hit a double century. In the competition, he also became a member of the exclusive group of players with two centuries.
