If Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad continue playing, Afghanistan can win the ODI World Cup: Toby Swann
Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad of the Gujarat Titans (GT) were lauded for their efforts in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) by former England spinner Graeme Swann. Afghanistan’s spinners have shown themselves to be a threat to the opposition during the current season. The two players have taken 30 wickets in total so far this season.

With 19 wickets from 11 games, Rashid, an established standout in the lucrative league, is presently tied for the season’s most wickets. In the meantime, Hardik Pandya, the GT captain, has Ahmed’s support during the current season. In the competition’s first seven games, he has taken 11 wickets.

Swann, an IPL expert with the official digital broadcaster Jio Cinema, made a stunning forecast regarding the Afghan spin twins during a recent encounter with selected media personnel. The 44-year-old thinks Afghanistan might win the major competition if Rashid and Noor can repeat their IPL heroics at the 2023 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted in India in October 2023.

“Every nation should be envious of India’s abundance of talented wrist spinners. Afghanistan is the only country that shouldn’t feel envious. The two bowlers in the world right now who are possibly the best are Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad. If they keep playing, Afghanistan can win the World Cup, Swann remarked.

Afghanistan placed last in the 2019 Cricket World Cup’s points standings.
Afghanistan competed in the 2015 Cricket World Cup for the first time. Afghanistan qualified for its second World Cup under Ashar Afghan’s captaincy, the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England. 2019 saw Afghanistan take on every other side, including those from the West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, and New Zealand. Notably, they were last in the points standings after losing all nine of their games.
