The Australian international is now the second-highest-paid player in IPL history, but when RCB chose to retain him for the upcoming season, MI was able to release a significant amount of cash, creating space for Hardik Pandya.
Former cricket player Aakash Chopra analysed the scenario and said that RCB did a great job to MI, as the five-time winners wouldn’t have pulled up the deal with Pandya without their assistance. He further stated that if Mumbai had released Green to create a place for Pandya, RCB might have signed him for the auction. Eventually, though, Chopra praised MI for making this agreement possible.
“They (RCB) rendered Mumbai a great service since the Hardik Pandya deal would not have gone through if this agreement had not gone through.

However, RCB will have INR 23.25 crore to spend at the upcoming IPL mini-auction, which is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19, while Mumbai will only have INR 17.75 crore.
