If not for RCB's generosity, the Hardik Pandya trade would never have taken place. Aakash Chopra

After he made the decision to play in the 2024 Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians, former captain of the Gujarat Titans Hardik Pandya has become the talk of the town. After a few successful seasons as a player and captain, Rohit Sharma‘s team expressed interest in bringing the all-rounder back for the upcoming campaign, but the signing process became difficult due to the team’s lack of the necessary funding.

In order for the deal to fall through, they had to release some players, and that’s when Royal Challengers Bangalore expressed interest in signing Cameron Green, a talented all-round player. The Australian international is now the second-highest-paid player in IPL history, but when RCB chose to retain him for the upcoming season, MI was able to release a significant amount of cash, creating space for Hardik Pandya.

Former cricket player Aakash Chopra analysed the scenario and said that RCB did a great job to MI, as the five-time winners wouldn’t have pulled up the deal with Pandya without their assistance. He further stated that if Mumbai had released Green to create a place for Pandya, RCB might have signed him for the auction. Eventually, though, Chopra praised MI for making this agreement possible.

“They (RCB) rendered Mumbai a great service since the Hardik Pandya deal would not have gone through if this agreement had not gone through.

Everything has abruptly altered. Not making this transaction would have been a horrible way to thwart Hardik’s deal. Instead of viewing it from Mumbai’s viewpoint, I am viewing it from Bangalore’s.

“They would’ve let him go.” If Cameron Green had been freed, would you have paid more than 17.5 crores for him? You could have won green at the auction if you had more than Rs 40 crore to spend. Bravo, Mumbai Indians,” Chopra posted on his YouTube account.

However, RCB will have INR 23.25 crore to spend at the upcoming IPL mini-auction, which is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19, while Mumbai will only have INR 17.75 crore.
