On the first day of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025, which takes place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from April 9 to 19, hosts Pakistan face Ireland, while the West Indies play Scotland at the Lahore City Cricket Association.
Teams from four Full Members—Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, and the West Indies—against Associate Members Scotland and Thailand in the sixth edition of the qualifier will determine the two qualifiers for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which will take place later this year. The league tournament consists of 15 matches.
In addition to hosts India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka have already earned spots in the World Cup by placing in the top six of the 10-team ICC Women’s Championship (2022–25).
Thailand and Scotland are the next two highest placed teams in the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings as of October 28, 2024, while Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, and the West Indies compete in the qualifier after finishing seventh to tenth in the Women’s Championship.
Pakistan’s day-night encounter against the West Indies at the Gaddafi Stadium on April 14, Bangladesh’s match against the West Indies at the LCCA on April 17, and the subcontinental rivalry between Pakistan and Bangladesh on April 19 are among of the tournament’s most anticipated matches.
