'Every team to add tournament logo to their jerseys'- ICC reacts to India rejecting host nation's name on team jersey

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) reportedly refused to put the name of the host country, Pakistan, on the Indian team’s shirts, sparking a dispute even before the 2025 Champions Trophy officially began. The International Cricket Council (ICC) responded to this judgement by highlighting how important it is that all participating teams adhere to the tournament’s rules.

All teams must have the event emblem, which contains the host country’s name, on their jerseys in accordance with ICC rules.

Pakistan is still the tournament’s original host, but Team India’s games will now be played in Dubai due to security concerns. The BCCI reportedly declined to show Pakistan’s name because of political tensions between the two nations.

Each team is in charge of emblazoning their shirts with the tournament’s logo. This guideline must be followed by all teams,” an ICC official stated, according to A-Sports.

PCB has complied with all hosting requirements.

Regarding the matter, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied receiving any formal correspondence from the BCCI. Nonetheless, the PCB has urged the ICC to guarantee that every team receives the same treatment. In order to meet its hosting responsibilities, the PCB has put a lot of effort into getting the required approvals for Indian officials and players.

The presence of Indian Captain Rohit Sharma at the opening ceremony in Karachi is still up in the air. The BCCI has not yet confirmed Sharma’s travel schedule, but traditionally the event includes the captains of each competing team.

Rohit and all other Indian team members, officials, and board members are included in this. According to a source earlier, “this is in accordance with the customary procedures, and since the opening match is on the 19th, the opening ceremony can be expected on the 16th or 17th.”
