ICC names all-women panel for Women’s World Cup 2025

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will be supervised by an all-female Emirates ICC Panel of Match Officials, marking a significant milestone in the sport’s history, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ICC has nominated a historic all-female panel for the 2025 Women’s World Cup. is another significant step towards the ICC’s overarching strategic goal of boosting women’s cricket’s growth. After the two most recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cups and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, it is the fourth international competition to have an all-female panel of match officials.

Eight nations will compete for international recognition in 31 matches over 33 days during the 13th Women’s Cricket World Cup, which India is hosting.

Four match referees and 14 umpires in all, each with a wealth of international experience, have been chosen to represent the Emirates ICC Panel at the event.

Sue Redfern, Claire Polosak, and Jacqueline Williams are among the highly skilled umpires on the officiating staff; they are all participating in their third Women’s Cricket World Cup. Along with fellow 2022 official Eloise Sheridan, Lauren Agenbag and Kim Cotton, who served as on-field umpires during Australia’s seventh-ever championship victory in the 2022 final, are back.

Respected individuals Trudy Anderson, Shandré Fritz, GS Lakshmi, and Michell Pereira are on the match referee panel; they are all still paving the path for women to officiate at the top level of the game.

Jay Shah, the chairman of the ICC, thinks that this momentous occasion in women’s cricket would pave the way for numerous more triumphs in all facets of the game.

This is a turning point in women’s cricket history, and we hope it will open the door for many more innovative tales in all areas of the game. In addition to being a significant milestone, the ICC’s steadfast dedication to promoting gender equity in cricket is powerfully reflected in the appointment of an all-female team of match officials.

“This breakthrough has more than just symbolic significance. Visibility, opportunity, and the development of significant role models who can motivate future generations are the main goals. We hope to inspire aspiration and reaffirm that leadership and influence in cricket transcend genders by showcasing excellence in officiating on a global scale.

It is a privilege to acknowledge a new phase in the development of the women’s game. We are confident that the impact of this project will extend well beyond this competition, inspiring more women globally to seek careers as officiators and contributing to the redefining of what is feasible in the game.
