Concerns about the ICC hosting the Women's T20 World Cup in 2024 are raised by the rising violence in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is at a standstill as a result of a sizable student-led protest. A statewide curfew was imposed by the government until Sunday, July 21. In addition, officers were instructed to shoot protesters on sight. There have already been a number of civilian deaths, and things could get worse soon. Bangladesh, the host country for the forthcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024, is under constant observation by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding developments and security concerns.

ICC authorities are concerned about the violent scenario in Bangladesh, and the competition is scheduled to start on October 3.

According to a recent statement from an official, the apex council is keeping an eye on the situation and has its own security team.

“We have global, independent security monitoring.” Thus, to answer your question, “Yes, we are monitoring the situation in Bangladesh,” an ICC Board member was cited by The Telegraph.

The Bangladeshi team is now competing in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka. They will play Thailand on July 22 after losing to Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their opening match of the competition. Should they lose again, the team captained by Nigar Sultana will be close to being eliminated.

Asia Cup provides a delicious continental competition to be ready for the world cup.

Indian athletes, meanwhile, have already stated that they hope to win the international competition in October. They defeated Pakistan early in the Asia Cup, and a victory over the UAE will guarantee them a place in the semi-final. The team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, nevertheless, is viewing the Asia Cup as a preliminarily competition for the T20 World Cup. They have not won an ICC trophy, but they have been quite close in the recent past.

Renuka Singh, an Indian pacer, expressed a similar view, saying she intends to use the Asia Cup as practice for the major competition.

We will need to rely on practice after the Asia Cup because we won’t have many matches left before the T20 World Cup. As a result, we are learning from this, and things can be comparable in Bangladesh. Thus, she remarked, “this is a great opportunity for us to prepare for the World Cup.”
