Andy Pycroft has received congratulations from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for participating in 100 Men’s Test matches as a match referee. Pycroft, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, achieved the milestone Thursday during Australia vs. India’s fourth Test match at Melbourne’s storied Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Since 2009, the 68-year-old former captain of Zimbabwe has also provided officiating services for 238 men’s ODIs, 174 men’s T20Is, and 21 women’s T20Is.
As an ICC Match Referee, Sean Easey, Senior Manager for Umpires and Referees, said: “I want to congratulate Andy on reaching this incredible milestone: 100 Test matches.
He is an accomplished member of our Elite Panel who unwaveringly uses his knowledge of cricket to preserve and advance the sport.
We are lucky to have Andy on our team because he is well-liked by both teammates and peers.
I have enjoyed every second of the voyage, which has been rewarding: Andy Pycroft.
Serving on the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees over the years and having the chance to officiate all around the world while embracing other cultures has been an immense privilege and pleasure. In addition to Pycroft’s joy, he expressed gratitude to the ICC for its support, his wife, Karen, and his family for their encouragement and tolerance, and to his colleagues Match Officials, both past and present, for their professionalism and camaraderie.
“The journey has been fulfilling, and I have cherished each and every second of it,” he continued.
Pycroft scored 295 runs in 20 ODIs and 152 runs in three Test matches for Zimbabwe from 1983 to 1992.
1983, 1987, and 1992 were the ODI World Cups in which he participated.
