In recent months, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been a hot topic of conversation. The Indian team’s refusal to visit the host nation, Pakistan, and the acceptance of a hybrid tournament style have led to a number of changes before the competition.
Eight teams divided into two-person groups will compete in the main event, which is scheduled to start on February 19, 2025. The games will take place in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. Additionally, the games for the Indian team will take place outside of Pakistan.
It has been reported that the tournament’s preliminary schedule has been made public, and that India and Pakistan are in the same group. In addition, Pakistan will play New Zealand on February 19 to begin the competition. The next day, India’s campaign against Bangladesh will begin.
With supporters preparing for the match, the much anticipated India-Pakistan match is scheduled for February 23. Given that India now plays its matches outside of Pakistan, Dubai has emerged as a leading contender to host the Men in Blue matches.
According to an announcement made by the ICC, all India-Pakistan matches at ICC events that are hosted by either nation shall take place at neutral locations until 2027. According to the statement, “the ICC Board confirmed on Thursday, 19 December, that India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue.”
“The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India), the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted by India and Sri Lanka), and the forthcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan) will all be affected by this,” the statement continued.
