T20 World Cup 2024: Ian Bishop bats for Yashasvi Jaiswal's India squad

There is serious competition for Yashasvi Jaiswal’s berth in the Indian playing XI. Jaiswal will have to wait for his chance because, according to reports, star batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are scheduled to open the match against Ireland on June 5. After struggling early in the IPL, the young player found his form in the middle of the game, but he was unable to finish strong. Because India wants to include an extra all-rounder, that contributed to his exclusion from the starting XI.

Former cricketer Ian Bishop, who prefers India to use Jaiswal at the top of the order, is not a fan of the concept. Since there isn’t a left-hand hitter in the top order for the Men in Blue, the former cricket player turned pundit believes that Jaiswal’s form is strong enough to warrant a spot in the team.

Concerns have been raised about Jaiswal’s performance in the IPL. However, Jaiswal should be at the top if you believe his form is good enough to make the team, especially as he is left-handed. Jaiswal, if he makes the XI, adds left-handedness and quality when he is developed. Thus, you’re posing distinct queries to the other bowling team. NDTV cited Ian Bishop.

Despite having Jaiswal in the mix, the team management curiously tested Sanju Samson at the top of the order while Kohli was absent from the warm-up match against Bangladesh. That could mean that the team management does not view Jaiswal as their main contender for the T20 World Cup. The young player might succeed if either Rohit or Kohli falters.

In the meantime, all of the all-round players had access to Skipper Rohit. Prior to their encounter with Ireland, the 37-year-old stated that they have an abundance of choices and that, considering the circumstances, spin all-rounders like Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are superior to others.
