During the current five-game Twenty 20 International series between Australia and India, Indian bowler Deepak Chahar was able to make it into the Indian team. He was added to the roster for the last two games of the series after missing the first three.
Deepak Chahar has played a number of times for India in white-ball cricket, but he hasn’t yet represented the country in Test matches. Regarding the same subject, Deepak Chahar expressed his readiness for the longest format. He did, however, assert that in order for him to better prepare himself to give his all for the national team, he has to be notified a month in advance of playing in the longest format.
Every action we take involves some level of preparation. You can see that I prepared well for both the Ranji Trophy and the IPL (last season). If I find out out of the blue that I’ll be playing a test, I won’t be able to participate in the match.
No one else really can, either,” Deepak Chahar said to JioCinema.
“I’ll make the necessary arrangements if I am informed one month in advance. I’ll raise my workload in line with it. I simply need a month to prepare, but I have the concepts and the swing. I’d want to play Test cricket for India,” he continued.
It’s important to remember that Deepak Chahar has represented India in 13 ODIs and 24 T20Is, amassing 45 wickets in both competitions. In addition to not being chosen for the forthcoming red-ball series against South Africa, he has yet to earn his first Test cap for the Indian squad.
It would be intriguing to watch how the 31-year-old performs when he finally receives the call to play in Test cricket as the waiting list for him grows.
