'I want to lead like Stokes' - Bethell on England T20I captaincy vs Ireland

"He's always kind of the guy that takes the precedence and takes the situation on himself," Jacob Bethell said of Ben Stokes' leadership.

In the longest format of cricket nowadays, Ben Stokes is considered to be one of the most important captains. The ace all-rounder recently participated in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he demonstrated his abilities as a captain and batsman.

He will try to lead from the front like Stokes, according to Jacob Bethell, who was just named England’s temporary T20I captain for the series against Ireland in Dublin in September. When it comes to international cricket, the 21-year-old will be the youngest player to captain England.

“I believe that one of Ben Stokes main qualities is that he leads by example.

He always seems to be the one who takes charge and handles things himself. That’s what I’ll be trying to accomplish as much as I can. He obviously bowls in a slightly different manner, bowling quickly and so forth, but I’ll do my best to emulate him on the field and with a bat and ball. However, I believe that setting a good example is the most important thing,” Bethell stated on Sky Sports.

During the next tour, the Barbados-born team also hopes to replicate its 6-0 white ball series thumping of the West Indies earlier this year.
