There are moments when I regret playing cricket: Mohammad Azharuddin

Following the controversy surrounding his stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin revealed that he sometimes regrets playing cricket.

The Lord’s Cricket Club, a local organisation, filed a complaint alleging that Azaruddin had abused his position as president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) by naming the stadium’s North Pavilion Stand after himself, thereby creating a conflict of interest, according to a Cricbuzz report.

As a result, Justice V Eswaraiah, the HCA’s Ethics Officer and Ombudsman, has formally ordered that Mohammad Azharuddin name be removed from the stand.

“I regret playing cricket occasionally, and it hurts me a lot to admit this. Seeing people in leadership and teaching roles who know so little about the game is distressing.

According to Gulf News, Mohammad Azharuddin said, “It’s a total disgrace to the sport.”

The former captain has asked the BCCI to step in and resolve this issue.

“I implore the BCCI to step in and take the necessary action, and I am resolved to take this injustice to court. There is a trend of friction and inadequate governance, as evidenced by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s disagreement with the association over passes, so this problem isn’t unique,” he continued.
