Regarding the captaincy change, AB de Villiers stated that although some would be pleased, others would be unhappy. He shared that he had read a post about MI losing a million followers because people were offended that Hardik had taken Rohit’s place. He does not, however, believe that MI made a poor choice.

Considering how well Rohit Sharma led MI for a while, De Villiers thinks that Rohit might benefit from this change since he wants to focus on enjoying the game as India’s captain rather than worrying about the workload associated with the IPL.
“Rohit has led MI admirably as captain. However, he also serves as the captain of India, so it’s time for him to relax and enjoy the game rather than feeling the need to carry the load.”
According to De Villiers, Rohit Sharma may have deliberately chosen to concentrate more on his batting abilities. Because it’s the newest development, he therefore wants the MI supporters to embrace the new leadership choice with gusto.
