Jason Gillespie, the former red-ball head coach of Pakistan, has charged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) with unpaid wages. The Board has already released a statement in which it denies the charges.
Gillespie posted an interview with Pakistani media on his Instagram story, stating that the Board has not yet paid him. A year ago, Gary Kirsten was named the white-ball coach and Gillespie the red-ball coach.
They were given a two-year contract by the PCB, but things didn’t work out for them. Both coaches departed the squad within six months of their hiring following some problems. For the first time, the former head coach discussed the compensation that the Board has yet to provide.
“I am still waiting on some remuneration from the PCB,” Jason Gillespie stated in a story on Instagram.
“The idea of forming a team was pitched to Gary Kirsten and me. In a different scenario, Jason Gillespie writes, “You lose a game, and then that gets thrown out of the window.”
The Board then released a statement disputing the allegations.
“A previous head coach’s allegations that he was not paid his dues are denied by the Pakistan Cricket Board. According to the PCB spokesperson, the former head coach blatantly violated the conditions of his contract when he abruptly quit without providing a four-month notice period. The coach was fully aware of the notice time that was specifically stipulated in the coaching contract and that applied to both parties.
On its official website, PCB posted applications on Saturday for the roles of director of its high-performance facility in Lahore and head coach of the national team.
