I have always supported India's 2024 T20 World Cup victory because Rohit Sharma deserves it: Shoaib Akhtar
After Rohit Sharma guided India to the finals by defeating England by 68 runs in the semifinals on Thursday, June 27, former Pakistani quick Shoaib Akhtar stated that the star batter deserves to win the T20 World Cup 2024.

India eliminated the reigning champions from the major event at Providence Stadium in Guyana with a superb all-around performance. After leading the Men in Blue in scoring in their previous two games, Rohit helped India advance to the T20 World Cup finals for the third time, having done so in 2007 and 2014.

Since he thought India should have won the World Cup, Akhtar expressed his disappointment at the country’s defeat. Rohit is a complete hitter and a selfless skipper who deserves to win the World Cup, according to the former cricket player turned analyst.

“I always thought IND should win the competition. On his own YouTube account, Akhtar expressed his disappointment at India’s World Cup loss last year, saying, “They should have won. They deserved to win.

It has been stated time and time again by Rohit Sharma that he deserves to win the cup because he wants to make an impression and win the trophy. He is a major participant, thus it ought to conclude spectacularly. He plays for the team, is a complete batter, and is a selfless leader, Akhtar continued.

In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Rohit has also been India’s most impressive batter. With three half-centuries and a career-high score of 92 against Australia, he has scored 248 runs at an average of 41.33 and a strike-rate of 155.97 in seven games. In the summit match against South Africa in Barbados on Saturday, June 29, he will try to build on his purple patch and assist India in ending their ICC title drought.

In the semifinals, IND gave the Three Lions a target of 172. To get revenge for their quarterfinal loss in the previous T20 World Cup in 2022, the Indian bowlers were unstoppable from the outset, dismissing their opponents for only 103 in 16.4 overs.
