Prominent cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal discussed how he nearly committed suicide as a result of accusations that he had cheated on his wife, Dhanashree Verma. He talked about how the post-divorce rumours had a terrible effect on his mental health and how they had also totally disrupted his sleep schedule. The leg-spinner also disclosed his desire to take a break from cricket.
In addition to fighting for a spot on the Indian team for a while, Chahal has been embroiled in some personal conflicts. He described the previous stage of his life as being very difficult, and he claimed that he frequently experienced insomnia as a result of stress, sadness, and everything else that followed the tasks of his midlife crisis.
I used to cry for two hours because I was tired of my life and had suicidal thoughts. I used to only get two hours of sleep. Forty to forty-five days passed. I wanted to take a vacation from cricket. I was occupied with cricket. It was difficult for me to focus. I used to get two hours of sleep. I used to talk to my pal about my suicidal ideas. On Figuring Out with Raj Shamani, Chahal revealed, “I used to get scared.”
I have never been unfaithful in my life; I’m not that type of person: Chahal
The 35-year-old said that in order to forward their objective and boost traffic, journalists and the media created a fake narrative. Chahal attributed his upbringing with his two sisters to teaching him the value of women.
“I believe that I was accused of cheating after I got divorced. In my entire life, I have never cheated. That’s not my personality. I am the most faithful person you will ever meet. I always think of my loved ones from the bottom of my heart. I always provide rather than demand. “You start thinking [otherwise] when people blame me even though they don’t know anything,” the leg-spinner continued.
“My parents taught me to respect women, therefore I know how to do it because I have two sisters and have known them since I was a young child. People around me have taught me valuable things in life. The Haryana native remarked, “If my name is being associated with someone, it is not necessary for people to write anything about it, only for views.”
On March 20, 2025, Chahal and Dhanashree, who were married in December 2020, formally annulled their union. In August 2023, he made his final appearance for India before losing favour as a result of heightened rivalry within the national cricket system.
