Kedar Jadhav, a former international cricket player, has defended India’s decision to skip the Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan. In the forthcoming continental event, which will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 14, the bitter rivals will square off. But according to Jadhav, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ought to abstain from the highly anticipated match.
Although Kedar Jadhav thinks the Men in Blue can defeat Pakistan anyplace in the world, he also thinks that India’s current dominance in world cricket would not change if they didn’t play a match. Following the recent terrorist strikes in Pahalgam, which were followed by the Indian government’s successful Operation Sindoor, Jadhav made these remarks.
Cricket 365 cited Kedar Jadhav as saying, “The new, progressive India has shown that we can destroy enemies within their own territory.”
“The Indian team shouldn’t play Pakistan, in my opinion. In India’s opinion, they will defeat Pakistan wherever they go. However, I can assure you that this match will not take place. Operation Sindoor was a huge success. The response came right away.
IND vs. PAK is insignificant in comparison to the lives of soldiers: Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh, the renowned off-spinner for India, has a similar viewpoint. From Harbhajan’s perspective, a cricket match between India and Pakistan is not nearly as important to the nation as the warriors who risk their lives to defend it. For the sake of national interest, he believes that missing one Asia Cup match is not a big deal.
“They have to know what matters and what doesn’t. That’s how easy this is. In my opinion, the sacrifice made by the soldier who stands on the border, whose family rarely gets to see him, and who occasionally gives his life without ever coming home is so great for all of us Indians. This [India vs. Pakistan] match is so insignificant in comparison that we cannot even skip a single cricket match. In an interview, Harbhajan told TOI, “It’s a very minor matter.”
It would be interesting to watch if the match takes place or not, as the BCCI was forced to skip the match against Pakistan due to a lot of outside noise.
