I’ll also take wickets if I bowl half the team’s overs, like Siraj does: Kris Srikkanth

I'll also take wickets if I bowl half the team's overs, like Siraj does: Kris Srikkanth

Former India captain and top selector Kris Srikkanth expressed his concerns on Mohammed Siraj’s performance and form, asserting that the right-arm speedster shouldn’t be guaranteed a spot in India’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad.

Only Indian player Kuldeep Yadav (53) has taken more wickets in One-Day Internationals than Siraj since the beginning of 2023. In the just finished Border-Gavaksar Trophy, the 30-year-old grabbed 20 wickets at an average of 31.15, ranking him as India’s second-highest wicket-taker.

However, Srikkanth asserted in a YouTube channel preview of the 2025 Champions Trophy that Siraj typically takes a lot of wickets mainly because he bowls half of the team’s overs.

Mohammed Siraj bowled the second-most overs, making him the second-highest wicket-taker [in Australia].

On his YouTube channel, Srikkanth stated, “Even if I had bowled half the team’s overs, I would have taken the same number of wickets.

The former chief selector for India went on to say that the Indian administration ought to think about bringing back Bhuvneshwar Kumar for white-ball cricket. The forgotten man of Indian cricket, according to Srikkanth, is Bhuvneshwar, who last represented his country in 2022.

Srikanth stated, “Bhuvneshwar Kumar will move the ball around and get you wickets if you give him the same support that you are giving Siraj.”

Since the 2022 T20WC, he has been entirely forgotten. He has returned and is playing cricket in his own country with success. India needs to take a new look at him.
