The area I believe India should really focus on improving is the third batter position. Mithali Raj

In the run-up to the coveted Women’s T20 World Cup in October, former captain of the Indian women’s team Mithali Raj offered her thoughts on the areas that the team needs to improve. Raj also mentioned that the squad is experimenting with several options in the no. 3 batting position, with the main goal still being to improve it.

The former cricket player added that they probably need a sixth all-round option, so bowling issues need to be addressed.

Raj also counselled the Indian team to play a fantastic kind of cricket in the World Cup, just as they are doing in Bangladesh, where the playing conditions are comparable to those in India.

Former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team Mithali Raj discussed her ideas for the squad’s preparations for the forthcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in an exclusive interview with Star Sports. “India will compete in the largest competition, the T20 Women’s World Cup,” she declared in October. The number three batter spot is where I believe India has to make the most progress. The ideal batter to bat third is still being sought after. They have attempted both Hemlata and Chetry.

However, what they truly need is a big-shot after the kind of beginning collaboration that Shafali and Smriti would offer. Additionally, as they now only have five bowlers, the bowling element requires attention. They most likely need a sixth bowler, perhaps an all-rounder who can bat and bowl a few overs. Before entering the World Cup, I believe India should focus on improving these aspects.”

“I would advise the Indian squad to compete, play hard, and play good cricket. You guys have a wonderful chance, in my opinion, because it’s in Bangladesh, which has favourable conditions for us. Our spinners have always been our strongest suit, but this time around, we’re also hitting really well. So, I wish you all the best of luck,” she said.
