Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma, MI’s openers, struggled at first to score rapidly in response. MI was unable to sustain the necessary run rate, even with a strong effort from Suryakumar Yadav. MI’s tailenders could only muster 15 runs when they needed 25 in the last over. In the 2024 Indian Premier League, DC defeated MI by a margin of 10 runs, putting up a strong show.

It is noteworthy that in 2019, Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved the lowest-ever total of 12 points to qualify for the playoffs. Still, with only eight teams in the IPL, this was feasible. Generally speaking, in order to be in the top four, a team has to win seven games or more. MI’s trip to the IPL 2024 will be difficult because they have an uphill challenge ahead of them.

MI has already suffered two losses this season to the Rajasthan Royals. Following their game against the Delhi Capitals on Saturday, they will play Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede, as well as home and away games against the Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively.
