Restrictions from his fitness coach curtailed Shreyas Iyer’s bowling ambitions.

Iyer said, "I have been itching to bowl, but the strength and conditioning coaches are right—you won't be able to bowl for a while."

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer stated that his back injury was keeping him from pursuing his bowling goals, despite his desire to play bowling for India at the top level. Strength and conditioning experts have restricted his bowling despite his desire to bowl, putting more emphasis on his recuperation.

In his international career, Shreyas Iyer has only bowled 45 balls over and given up 43 runs without making a breakthrough. But in domestic cricket, he has ten wickets. After India defeated Australia in the final Twenty20 International in Bengaluru on December 3, Shreyas Iyer said he was eager to show off his bowling abilities.

I’ve been itching to bowl, but the coaches of strength and conditioning are correct when they say that you won’t be able to bowl for a while. That’s the depressing aspect of it, Shreyas said to Jio Cinema following the game.

Shreyas Iyer is prepared for the challenge of South Africa.

In the last Twenty20 International at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the right-handed batsman showed off his skill by hitting a brilliant 53 off 37 deliveries, including two sixes and five fours, from the vital No. 3 spot. India’s innings was the cornerstone of their 160/8 total. He scored 65 runs at an average of 21.67 throughout the three games of the series. The 28-year-old also demonstrated his ability to field by making critical catches, including the dismissals of Matthew Wade and Aaron Hardie.

“I was thinking boom boom, but then I noticed three wickets falling, so I started to calculate.” Batting on that wicket wasn’t simple. We finally reached 160, which I believe was the correct figure. To protect it, the team put on an outstanding show. Regarding his criticism, Iyer remarked, “To be honest, I’m thrilled to see everyone pitching in and contributing to the team.”

Iyer’s next stop is South Africa as India gets ready for a multi-format series that will consist of three T20Is, one ODI per team, and then two Test matches. Along with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mukesh Kumar, Shreyas Iyer is the only player listed in all three squads.
