Heinrich Klaasen, a cricket player from South Africa, has formally declared his retirement from international play. In 2018, the wicketkeeper-batter played his first One-Day International (ODI) for South Africa in Cape Town against India.
“It was a very emotional decision that took a long time to reach,” Klaasen wrote in his Instagram post. He admitted that leaving international cricket is difficult, but in the end, it is the best decision for him and his family. He acknowledged that he has a great deal of respect for his nation and is proud to have represented South Africa internationally.
I regret to inform you that I have made the decision to retire from international cricket. Determining what would be best for my family and me in the future took a lot of thought. It was a really tough choice, but I’m completely at peace with it,” Klaasen posted on Instagram.
“It was the greatest honour representing my nation from the first day, and it was everything I had hoped for and worked for since I was a little boy,” he continued.
