Australian cricketer Alyssa Healy acknowledged that she wanted Indian batter KL Rahul was a member of her country’s squad and professed her appreciation for him. Mitchell Starc and the cricketer, who was born in Bengaluru, are presently playing for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
The 35-year-old disclosed that the batsman-wicketkeeper is among the most reserved people she has ever encountered. The left-arm pacer even said, “Probably,” when she questioned if Rahul would fit in the Australian changing room.
“You know what? Healy stated on the Willow Talk podcast on the LISTNR Sport YouTube channel, “I’ve spent a little time with this group, and KL Rahul is like the quietest person that I’ve ever met.”
The host of the podcast praised the Indian cricketer’s composure in the face of mayhem at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and implied that he would be a good addition to the squad.
Indeed. You’ve never encountered a more cool, collected, and collected guy than him. He would be sitting in the corner of the SCG, waiting to go out there and bat and do his thing for Australia, and that would be beautiful. He would therefore be a good addition, the host stated.
“I was at the SCG test and was observing his behaviour at the time of the garbage that was happening with Virat and the crowd. Virat was simply playing to the crowd and biting on the line, you know.”
“KL Rahul appeared to be the most composed individual in the entire stadium,” he continued.
The right-handed batter praised the 33-year-old’s calm demeanour and pointed out that he follows a set hitting routine and puts the team’s needs ahead of his own.
It appears to be less about him since, from what I’ve seen in person, he has a very clear process that takes some time to set up before he bats. However, he seems to be surrounded by less fuss. It seems to focus more on the team and less on him, which I believe would better suit Australian culture. That’s just what I think,” she said.
