My current top priority is to stay healthy and available for the team: Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar, a well-known Indian pacer, believed that he was unable to return to the national team due to his complete recovery from back and hamstring injuries. The 31-year-old has consistently experienced various injuries and last competed for India in December 2022. Earlier in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, he sustained a hamstring injury and missed as much as six games for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

When given the chance to play for the national team, Deepak Chahar said he will do his very best because he is totally fit. Notably, the right-armer recently competed in the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) following recuperation, and he was also a member of the Asian Games-bound squad at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

“Injuries shouldn’t cause a player to lose motivation. A player does not hold these items in their hand. Right now, keeping fit and being available for the team are my top priorities. Every chance I have, I’ll give the squad everything I’ve got,” Deepak Chahar was reported as saying by Cricket.com.

“In my case, it’s equally true to say that I wasn’t feeling well. I had a back problem last year, which is serious for a fast bowler, but I am fully recovered today. Right now, I’m quite satisfied with my bowling. I’m attempting to reenter the national team. I recently competed in the RPL competition. I spent the entire weekend at the National Cricket Academy. I was working out with the Indian team, which will compete in the Asian Games in China,” he continued.

I want to help the team win whenever I have the chance: Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar went on to discuss his desire to play in the Cricket World Cup and make a meaningful contribution to the team.

“Playing in and winning the World Cup for your nation is every cricketer’s dream. I’ll make an effort to finish it whenever I have the chance. I’ve excelled in several tournaments right from the start. When India won the Asia Cup in 2018, it was my first time. In the last six IPL seasons, I have participated in five finals and won three championships. I haven’t participated in the World Cup yet, but whenever I do, I want to help the team win,” he continued.

The 31-year-old, who has 45 wickets for India in 37 white-ball matches, continued by acknowledging the impact MS Dhoni has had on his career. He said he looked up to the former India captain and treated him like an older brother.

“I consider myself really fortunate to have met Mahi bhai. He and I have been playing together for a long time. He is my older brother and my hero, in my opinion. He has my utmost regard both as a player and a person. I’ve picked up a lot from him, he said.
