'He slept around 3 AM at night' - Priyansh Arya's coach following century outing against CSK in IPL 2025

With his first century against a strong Chennai Super Kings (CSK) attack in Match 22 on Tuesday, Priyansh Arya emerged as a new, youthful sensation in the IPL 2025.

After hitting six sixes in a single over during the Delhi Premier League (DPL), Priyansh Arya gained notoriety and was later acquired by Punjab Kings for an astounding INR 3.8 crore. Even though Arya made his debut against the Titans in the season’s opening match, it was the final knock that truly showcased his abilities as an attacking opener in Twenty20 cricket.

Prior to the two matches, the opening batsman made a few missteps, particularly when he got out for a golden duck against the Rajasthan Royals. Sanjay Bharadwaj, Arya’s youth coach, disclosed that the young batter had phoned him prior to the game, which also provided insight into his mentality.

Prior to our conversation, Priyansh Arya had made a call. His words were, “namaskar sir.”

‘Theek tha?’ he asked me. (Did it go well?). I then asked him about yesterday’s events. He went on to say that it was entirely God’s doing. I took no action (laughs). I constantly remind him that everything is done by God. Hindustan Times cited Bharadwaj as saying, “God is just making things happen by your means.”

At 7:30 in the morning, he gave me a call. Two to three in the morning, he went to sleep. This is how he has always been. He is usually respectful and very grounded,” he continued.

Speaking of the Delhi cricketer’s knock, he reached his century in just 39 deliveries, making him, along with Travis Head of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the fourth-fastest IPL hundred. Rajat Patidar of the RCB previously held the record for the fastest century made by an uncapped player in the main event, having done so in 2022 during the Eliminator match against the Lucknow Super Giants.
