Harry Singh, the son of former India bowler RP Singh Senior, is playing for England at Old Trafford in the first Test against Sri Lanka. For those who don’t know, Harry’s father, RP Singh Sr., played for India against Australia in two One-Day Internationals in 1986. In 59 first-class games, he also claimed 150 wickets. Harry’s father moved to England in the late 1990s, and he carried with him his childhood love of cricket.
Following his immigration to the UK, RP Singh Sr. began working for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC). Harry was chosen for Lancashire’s route system at the age of eight. After enrolling in the esteemed Lancs Academy at the age of 15, the 20-year-old earned his List A debut in 2023 while representing Lancashire in the One-Day Cup. In 2022, he was a member of the England Under-19 side that faced Sri Lanka at home in a series.
The cricketer of Indian descent has made 87 runs at an average of 12.42 in seven games for Lancashire. His highest score was 25, and his strike rate was 64.44. He has demonstrated his skill with the ball by taking two wickets in the few overs he bowled, demonstrating his versatility.

When England’s senior men’s team plays Sri Lanka, the right-handed batter is introduced as the team’s 12th member. He will be vying for a significant role in the England team alongside captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendan McCullum as they look to bounce back in the Ashes in 2025.

Harry had stated, as cited by Hindustan Times, “I started playing cricket at the age of four, joined Lancashire’s pathway system at eight, and have been on the Lancs Academy since I was 15 – so it has been a long journey for me to reach this point.”
