Harry Brook, a middle-order batsman for England, has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League 2025, stating that he needs to get ready for his national team responsibilities.
The Delhi Capitals purchased Harry Brook at the November mega auction for INR 6.25 crore.
Harry Brook might potentially be banned from the IPL after withdrawing from the tournament for the second time in a row.
In accordance with a new IPL rule, “Any player who registers in the player auction and after getting picked at the auction, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season, will get banned from participating in the tournament and player auction for 2 Seasons.”
Players who are disqualified because of illnesses or injuries are exempt from the rule. “It is a really important time for England cricket, and I want to fully commit to preparing for the upcoming series,” Harry Brook writes in a statement posted on social media. I need time to recover from the busiest moment in my job so that I can accomplish this.
“I know not everyone will understand, and I don’t expect them to, but I have to do what i believe is right, and playing for my country remains my priority and focus.”
Harry Brook has only participated in one IPL season to date, in 2023 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, after withdrawing from the Delhi Capitals’ campaign due to a bereavement last season.
