ENG vs AUS: Harry Brook praises teammates after smashing Australia in 4th ODI

In the fourth One-Day International at Lord’s, England defeated Australia by an incredible 186 runs. Ben Duckett, the opener, set the tone with a half-century, while Harry Brook, the skipper, played aggressive cricket, smashing 87 runs off 58 deliveries. Rain caused the innings to be reduced to 39 overs, but Liam Livingstone caused chaos by smashing an undefeated 62 runs in 27 deliveries at the end of the session.

During his brilliant innings, he scored 28 runs in Mitchell Starc’s last over. England amassed a huge 312 runs thanks to Livingstone’s dominance towards the end of the first innings. Seven of Australia’s batsmen failed to score in double figures, demonstrating a lack of grit in the chase. The series is now locked at 2-2 after they suffered an ugly loss.

The captain of England, Harry Brook, showered his teammates with accolades following the victory.

He praised the bowlers for their performance and mentioned Livingstone’s finish and Duckett’s outstanding hit up in the order. Notably, Jorfra Archer claimed two, Brydon Carse claimed three, and Matthew Potts claimed four wickets. Regarding his performance in the fourth ODI, Brook was also satisfied.

“We carried over all of the good things and the energy we had from the first two games into the final two. We all know how good Ducky (Duckett) is; up top, he’s quite difficult to bowl against. In the post-match press conference, Brook stated, “We know what Livi (Livingstone) is capable of at the back end and he showed it beautifully tonight.”

“The bowlers from England bowled beautifully.” We were a little too many over par on a tricky track, but they bowled wonderfully, hit the lengths beautifully, and they were rewarded. With some swing and seam movement, he (Jofra Archer) bowled quickly tonight as well, which was entertaining to watch.

Hopefully, we will see more of that in the future. Scoring runs is always enjoyable, and when you are playing well, you tend to think a little more clearly,” he continued.
