In Manchester, Harry Brook scored 56 runs off of 73 balls during the first innings of the first Test match against Sri Lanka. With Jamie Smith, he formed an important partnership that enabled England to seize the lead on Day 2. Given that Smith lacked sufficient international cricket experience, Brook was expected to provide in the middle order in Ben Stokes’ absence.
In addition to receiving compliments from batting legend Kumar Sangakkara, Brook has played admirably. The former cricket player for Sri Lanka claimed that he enjoys seeing the 25-year-old bat because of the simplicity of his style. Sangakkara advised Brook to keep going in the same direction, saying that he had good awareness.
“He plays the game so well. I enjoy watching him bat because of his straightforward style and the intention behind it. There is nothing difficult about the manner he scores runs; it is always about that, Sangakkara said.
“I think the best thing that can happen for Harry Brook is to be told, ‘just keep batting the way you are, do not get confused with anything else.'” He said. “He has a good awareness about how he wants to play cricket.”
During his 2022 debut, Brook has played a significant role in England’s Bazball system. Throughout his career, he has participated in 15 Test matches and amassed 1378 runs at an average of 59.91. The Yorkshire native was not present for England’s only Test series defeat since Ben Stokes assumed captaincy, which was against India earlier in the year.

After Day 2, England is leading Sri Lanka by 23 runs in the Test match. Rain intervened to ruin Smith’s important 72-run undefeated innings. In an attempt to give England a bigger advantage, he would like to continue Day 3 in a same manner.
