Harry Brook, England’s reliable batsman, carried over his good form into the fifth One-Day International (ODI) against Australia in Bristol.
Will Jacks, who was out after four balls for a duck, was replaced at batting by Harry Brook with England at 70. Before Phil Salt went to the hut, he had already scored 45 runs, out of the 58 England had at that point.
Just as he had done throughout the series thus far, Brook got off to a strong start. With the ball in his bat and 21 off 24 deliveries, he drove a drag-down from Adam Zampa, who was in his second over, into the stands, near deep midwicket. Zampa’s third delivery of the over was abnormally loose, and the Englishman took credit for it by slog-sweeping the ball deep into the parking lot, where a steward had to recover it. On the fifth delivery, Brook produced another maximum as he casually and gracefully deposited a full ball from Zampa over long-on.

Adam Zampa is eaten by Harry Brook twice more, but the spinner gets the last laugh.
The aggressive batter wasn’t finished; he kept up his aggressive approach with the bat, hitting two more sixes during Zampa’s period, one of which found its way into the flats. But Zampa ultimately got the last laugh, not before causing some severe damage after Brook misplayed his shot to long-off, where Glenn Maxwell easily collected the ball.
As of this writing, Ben Duckett has reached his second ODI hundred off 86 deliveries, and England were 229 in the 32nd over.

Considering they have already lost half of their side, it will be interesting to see how the hosts close out their innings and meet the target they set Australia with 18 overs remaining.
