Harry Brook has been compared to a young Sachin Tendulkar by former Australian cricketer Greg Chappell. The highly anticipated five-match Test series between Australia and England, their bitter rivals, is slated to begin on November 21.
Chappell stated prior to the series that he was most looking forward to watching Harry Brook bat in the Ashes. Chappell claimed that when he watched Brook bat on TV, he was reminded of Tendulkar’s style when he first started playing internationally.
“Harry Brook strikes me as the intriguing one.
I’d like to watch him perform live because I’ve seen a little of him on TV. He appears to be a tremendously excellent player, and his record supports that. He has so far averaged 62 [57.55] in Test cricket, which is a pretty respectable record. According to cricket.com.au, Chappell said, “I’ve watched him bat on television and he reminds me very much of Sachin Tendulkar in Sachin’s early part of his career.”
The former Australian captain also considered how he would respond to Australian conditions if he were making his first red-ball tour of the nation.
Very little movement in the beginning, excellent at spotting angles, and capable of scoring on the majority of deliveries—there aren’t many that he can’t. It will be intriguing to see how he adjusts, he continued. “Australia has historically been a test for English batsmen to adapt the first time around.”
At the moment, Harry Brook serves as England’s Test team’s vice captain. In 30 games (50 innings), he has amassed 2820 runs, including 10 hundreds and 13 fifties.
Since the 2010–11 series, the Three Lions have lost all of their Ashes games in Australia. Throughout the series, they will try to break their jinx and play better with the bat and the ball. Perth Stadium is set to host the first Test match on November 21.
