Harry Brook after his  match-winning knock against Australia - 'Got to have that fearless attitude'

In the third ODI against Australia, England’s stand-in captain Harry Brook scored a brilliant century to lead his team to a 46-run victory (DLS Method). After the hosts were down to 11/2 at Chester-le-Street while chasing 305 runs, Brook and Will Jacks formed a strong alliance that enabled Three Lions to cross the finish line.

Brook made a contentious remark prior to the third ODI that went viral in England. Pundits questioned his desire to play for the national team in response to his “if you get caught somewhere on the boundary or in the field then who cares?” remark. Brook clarified this by saying that his remarks were interpreted differently and that his main goal was to play freely without giving other things much thought.

“Someone interpreted that a little too incorrectly. You need to play with abandon and practically adopt a who-cares mentality. Who gives a damn if we lose? Although you don’t want to go out there and be afraid of failing, we still want to win. The manner people are leaving the Test environment is something we have witnessed numerous times, according to Brook. Brook said, as cited by the BBC, “You have to have that fearless attitude and take it to the bowlers” following the third ODI.

I think I’m back in a good spot: Harry Brook

Brook received a lot of flak for his subpar performance over the whole summer. Even though he got off to a strong start, he could not finish them. The 25-year-old said he has been playing the ball late and is keeping his head straight to score runs in his address to them.

I feel like I haven’t been able to transition this summer, spending a lot of time in my 30s and 40s. Playing the ball late and with my mind still, I feel like I’m back in a good spot,” he remarked.
