'In bowling, we need to go back and think about plans'- Harmanpreet Kaur reflects on massive 122-run defeat in 2nd ODI

In the second ODI in Brisbane, India Women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur thought back on the crushing defeat to Australia Women. “The team needs to go back and rethink some plans to win games,” the captain of India said. Kaur seemed open about how she felt the team performed.

The rivalry between Australia and India is happening right now, not just between the men but also between the ladies. On Sunday, December 8, however, the Women in Blue’s tale did not finish happily either, as they lost the second ODI against the hosts by a thumping 122 runs, ruining their hopes of winning the series. The India Women’s team will undoubtedly be thinking about a lot of things before the last game at the WACA.

Thinking back on the loss, Harmanpreet Kaur

The Indian women were thrashed by the Australians once more. It was insufficient to defeat the Australians, who set a lofty goal of 372 and held the Indian innings to 249 despite some respectable efforts, such as Saima Thakor’s three-fer and good hits from Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Minnu Mani. After the game, Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, gave an analysis of the defeat.

“When bowling, we must reflect on our plans. We were hoping for greater movement, but this isn’t what we got. Going forward, we must bat for a full fifty overs and a little longer. News 18 cited Kaur as saying, “We had a few 40s but couldn’t convert it to fifty or hundred.”

Even though the sum was large, I believe we had some collaborations in between. Nevertheless, we took a constructive stance and sought out boundaries. But we fell short by a small margin. The ball gave us several chances, but we were unable to seize them. They deserve a lot of praise for their excellent batting,” she said.

In particular, against the Australians, this is hardly the stance that the Indian women would have preferred. When they play in the WACA in Perth, they will be hoping to bounce back and at least win the series.
