On Tuesday, July 22 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, India Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur took centre stage in the third One-Day International match against England Women, scoring her eighth century in the format. With 11 hundreds, star batsman Smriti Mandhana is at the top of the leaderboard, and she is now tied for second place.
Harmanpreet Kaur tied the record of the second-most hundreds for India Women in ODI history, held by the great Mithali Raj, with her outstanding performance when the Indians batted first.
During her 84-ball time at the crease, Harmanpreet Kaur, who her colleagues call Harry, batted with an incredible strike-rate of 121.42, blasting an incredible 102 runs. In the series decider, her knock was the driving force behind the visiting team’s commanding 318-5 total at the end of 50 overs. Despite her cautious start, she did not miss any deliveries and amassed 14 boundaries in her knock, putting her and her former captain and comrade neck and neck.

4000 runs for Harmanpreet Kaur in the ODI
In her 129th innings of the 50-over internationals, the attacking batsman also broke through the 4000-run barrier. With 19 half-centuries in the format, the Punjabi-born player has established herself as one of the Women in Blue’s most dependable middle-order batswomen throughout the years. The senior professional’s hit of 102 was also her third century versus England Women, the only opposition team she has scored hundreds against.
