As the ideal prelude to the 50-over World Cup, Harmanpreet Kaur seems optimistic about her team’s chances of defeating Australia in the forthcoming three-match ODI series. The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, will host the opening ODI on Sunday, September 14. On the other hand, the World Cup begins on September 30.
Although Australia has had a strong setup for many years, the Indian captain claimed that her squad has put in a lot of effort and progressed over the past year and a half. She believes that in terms of fielding and fitness levels, India has been able to catch up to Australia.
“As a team, we have put in a lot of effort this year and are becoming better every day. However, Australia has had a favourable setup and has been in control for a number of years. We entered that race recently and have performed well over the past one to one and a half years. In the past, we put a lot of effort on beating them.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Harmanpreet Kaur stated, “But now, we have worked a lot on fielding and fitness, and results are starting to show.”
Even though Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged that Australia has long held a dominant position in world cricket, she nevertheless supported her team to defeat the Women in Yellow on any given day. “Players know their roles in the team, and that has given them a sense of belief that they can produce positive results against the best teams in world cricket,” the right-handed hitter added.
“Australia has undoubtedly been really dominant; they have performed well everywhere and dominated. However, as a captain, we also believe that we can defeat them on any given day. Over the past 1.5 years, we have made significant progress, and the procedures have been good. We defeated one of their top teams even in England. These demonstrate that we are headed in the right direction. The members in this group have been playing together for some time. Everyone is aware of their responsibilities to the team. Importantly, there is a sense that we can defeat any team on any given day. “The outcomes follow if you believe,” Harmanpreet stated.
The most reliable Indian team I’ve ever seen is this one: Alyssa Healy
Alyssa Healy, the captain of Australia, believes that this is the most stable Indian squad she has ever seen. The batswoman-wicketkeeper acknowledged that her squad will not have an easy time defeating India at home.
In my opinion, India has been a bit of a sleeping giant in the women’s game for a while and hasn’t had the stability that I believe they do at the moment. I believe they are well aware of their threat and the damage they may cause to opposing teams. We saw them travel to England, play some excellent cricket, and take on a very strong team,” Healy remarked.
“This is the most solid Indian team I’ve ever seen, and I believe they’re in a great position going into the World Cup, so I’m excited for the challenge. As you mentioned, the rivalry only gets stronger. I am aware of how much they like defeating Australia and how strong they are at home, which presents a significant obstacle for us. She went on, “I think it’s going to be a really fun, hard-fought series.”
