At the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, euphoric scenes broke out following the completion of the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025. Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues fell down in tears of relief and excitement after India defeated Australia in a record run-chase. The pair scored 167 runs off 156 for the third wicket in what ended up being the contest’s deciding innings.
When the game was over, Amanjot Kaur hit a boundary towards the backward point area, and the Indian team ran out onto the field. Tears filled Jemimah’s eyes as she fell to her knees on the field. Only a few moments after she had risen to the ground to take in the scene could her teary-eyed face be seen as she took off her helmet.
The greatest run chase in the history of women’s cricket and all credit goes to Jemimah Rodrigues. An innings of a lifetime by her. pic.twitter.com/wV9jP606je

Meanwhile, Harmanpreet appeared to be inconsolable as well.
Head coach Amol Muzumdar comforted her next to the dugout. Harmanpreet was seen crying uncontrollably for the first time, and cameras were panned all around her. The other players on the team appeared to be thrilled with how the knockout match turned out.
The Women in Blue shattered a number of records on Thursday, October 30. The captain Harmanpreet and Jemimah’s incredible 167-run partnership was one of them; it was the highest score India had ever scored against Australia in a Women’s World Cup. This stand transcended the one that was made at the 2017 episode between Punam Raut and Mithali Raj.
With a new champion for the Women’s World Cup expected, India will now play South Africa in the summit match at the same location on Sunday, November 2.
