The Hobart Hurricanes XI have formally announced their team for the much awaited Guyana Global Super League (GSL) in 2025, which will be played from July 10–18 at Providence’s Guyana National Stadium.
The Hurricanes XI are bringing a strong roster as they aim to win the GSL trophy and a sizable US$1 million prize fund, fresh off their victory as the Big Bash League champions. The team has a wealth of T20 expertise and is ready to have a significant influence on Caribbean territory.
Ben McDermott, a talented wicketkeeper-batsman with a long T20 career that includes leagues in Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, and England, is leading the batting charge.
In addition, McDermott has played in 25 T20 international matches for Australia, giving the Hobart Hurricanes’ top order international experience.
West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith, Jackson Bird, and Billy Stanlake will all be part of the Hurricanes’ strong pace attack. Smith, who was a member of the Guyana Amazon Warriors from 2019 to 2023, is a strategic asset for the visiting team in Providence because of his priceless local knowledge and expertise.
A well-rounded trio will lead the spin department: veteran internationals Mohammad Nabi and Mohammad Nawaz will be joined by leg-spinning all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary. The Hurricanes are a well-rounded, versatile team because all three players contribute with the ball and the bat.
The Hobart Hurricanes XI are positioned to be one of the most impressive teams at this year’s GSL thanks to a combination of their explosive potential, local knowledge, and international experience.
