Among the most well-known players who have garnered attention are all-rounders Cameron Green and Daryl Mitchell. The Indian Premier League 2026 Mini-Auction is quickly approaching, and the teams are lining up to select from the top 350 players on the list. There are 110 foreign players that have joined, although the majority of the names are still Indian.
Irfan Pathan, a former cricket player, said about why teams like the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will be interested in Green at the auction because they are both searching for comparable replacements for Sam Curran and Andre Russell, respectively.
Irfan thinks a team that is prepared to shell out a significant portion of their auction funds for a top-tier international all-rounder will get someone like Green.
Since KKR is going into the auction with a sizable sum of money, they will undoubtedly want Cameron Green, who is an excellent all-around player. Green provides a like-for-like substitute for Andre Russell, who will likely bat a little higher in the order but can contribute with both bat and ball. Through JioStar’s pre-auction event, Irfan stated, “I expect CSK to show interest too.”
Daryl Mitchell of the BlackCaps is another excellent addition for any club to have in their armoury ahead of the 2026 season, according to Irfan, who himself was a member of five IPL teams during his active days in the prestigious league. The Baroda native believes that if CSK is unable to acquire Green, they may once more decide to pay Mitchell INR 14 crore to bring him on board.
“The Chennai Super Kings made a significant investment in Daryl Mitchell earlier, paying about 14 crore, because he is a quality foreign batter who plays spin exceptionally well.” He is a great asset because of his ability to manage spin on challenging tracks like Chennai’s. He provides the mentality and quality that teams need in a proven foreign player, having a strong background in both league and international cricket, Irfan said.
