During India’s exhilarating celebration at The Oval on August 4, after their thrilling six-run victory in the fifth and final Test, veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was unable to control his exuberance. India completed an incredible comeback on English soil with this win, tying the five-match series 2-2.
To the cheers of the crowd, the Indian team, led by captain Shubman Gill, made a triumphant lap around the pitch. Following a fierce battle, players soaked up the occasion, waved to the audience, and posed for pictures. In a video that went viral, Jadeja was seen pointing to parts of the English audience and humorously stating, “Goron ke muh dekh” (Look at their faces), alluding to their shocked reactions following the suspenseful conclusion.

In India’s drawn Test series against England, Jadeja was crucial. The left-handed hitter amassed 516 runs at a remarkable average of 86 during 10 innings versus England, finishing the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as the fourth-highest run-scorer. Five half-centuries and a century were among his hitting highlights.
In addition to his skill as a batsman, Jadeja also made contributions with the ball, claiming seven wickets, including a quartet.
For the first time ever, India won the fifth Test of the series away from home, marking a historic milestone. Furthermore, they won the last Test by six runs, which was the smallest margin of victory in the history of cricket in the nation.
The Indian Test team will take a brief breather after the exciting series before starting their home season. India will host four Test matches later this year, two against South Africa and two against the West Indies. The South Africa series is set for November 14–26 in Kolkata and Guwahati, after the series against the West Indies is set for October 2–14 in Ahmedabad and Delhi.
In 2026, India is anticipated to travel to New Zealand and Sri Lanka for two Test matches apiece. In addition, India will host Afghanistan for a one-time test that will not be eligible for the 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship (WTC). Beginning in January 2027, a five-match home Test series against Australia will mark the end of India’s current WTC cycle.
