The Indian delegation was honored with a felicitation event on October 10 in Delhi by Jay Shah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI ) Secretary, and Roger Binny, the Board’s President.
By playing Afghanistan in the tournament’s championship game, the Indian team won the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games.
In the championship game, Afghanistan gave India’s batting innings a target of 112 runs to reach. However, the match was called off due to the interference of the rain, and India was proclaimed the winner based on their superior seeding.
The entire men’s and women’s cricket teams, as well as Roger Binny and Jay Shah, may be seen in a photo. The men’s team was led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, and the women’s team was captained by Harmanpreet Kaur. Both teams qualified for the final, and the women’s team held on to 116 runs to overcome Sri Lanka in the decisive game and win the gold medal.

With this historic accomplishment, Indian cricket teams competed in the Asian Games for the first time and won gold medals. During a ceremony conducted on Tuesday, October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi, BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah hailed the Indian athletes for their outstanding achievement at the Asian Games.

During the ceremony honoring the winners of the gold medals, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured the occasion by being there. As a memento of the significant accomplishment, he received an autographed bat.
India dominates the Asian Games 2023, going unbeaten.
Notably, the Indian women’s team made history by winning the first-ever gold medal in the prior competition’s women’s cricket event. At the Zhejiang University Oval in Hangzhou, they triumphed over Sri Lanka to earn the gold medal after defeating Bangladesh in the semifinal. Due to their higher seeding, India qualified to the semi-finals despite Malaysia’s quarterfinal match being rained out.
Due to their superior seeding, the men’s team also began their campaign at the Asian Games 2023 in the quarterfinal stage. In the quarterfinal, they played Nepal, winning by 23 runs, and in the semifinal, India played Bangladesh, winning by nine wickets.
