As the GT get ready to play the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator on May 30 of IPL 2025, pacer Arshad Khan has acknowledged that the team’s top priorities are winning and making it to the finals.
GT just dropped to third place in the points chart after suffering two straight losses in the league stage. After losing to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the bowler thought back on the team’s mentality and called it a difficult setback, but he also highlighted the value of maintaining optimism.
“Our last game wasn’t so great, but we are focused on winning, and it’s God’s plan that we get to play an additional game in the next match, whether it’s a qualifier or an elimination match.
According to NDTVSports, Arshad Khan stated, “We will attempt to win this match, advance to the finals, and ultimately win that one as well.”
Under the direction of Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill, GT was a formidable force in the IPL 2022 and 2023 seasons. This year, they hope to build on their previous achievements and contend for the championship once more. The left-arm pacer emphasised that every game is an opportunity to grow while acknowledging that the impending match is a do-or-die situation.
He went on to say, “Every match is significant and teaches us something.”
Arshad also acknowledged that despite its share of ups and downs, the Hardik Pandya-led side is still a formidable foe, particularly in games with significant stakes. He highlighted that the team’s ability to carry out its plans on game day is more important than the opponent’s identity.
GT went up against MI twice in the league stage earlier in the season and won both games. Therefore, GT will try to defeat the five-time champions in the Eliminator at Mullanpur in order to replicate their success.
