If Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane had established a strong partnership, according to the legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath, India may have won the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final. On Day 5 of the WTC final on June 11 in London, India suffered a devastating 209-run defeat at the hands of Pat Cummins-led Australia.

McGrath stated that the playing conditions in England differ from those in India. He also stated that incidents of this nature are inevitable and are referred to as dressing room duress.

“Such occurrences are possible on occasion. Yes, the conditions in England are vastly different from those under which Indian cricket has been played. According to NDTV’s quote from Glenn McGrath, “This occasionally occurs and is known as a little bit of dressing room pressure.”

The Australian continued by stating that both India and Australia have not played a great deal of Test cricket recently. He added that Kohli and Rahane had to form a substantial partnership on the final day.

Both nations have not played much Test cricket recently, but such is life. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were required to form a formidable partnership on the final day, when they were on a run. The loss of an early wicket is possible. It is a single test match. I wouldn’t be too worried about it.”

McGrath discusses Shubman Gill’s controversial capture in the WTC championship game.
While discussing the controversial catch by Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to dismiss India opener Shubman Gill, McGrath stated that the majority of these catches are out, and he was pleased. The 53-year-old added that he would have been pleased if India had taken the capture, but that he was not speaking from an Australian perspective.

“I believe the majority of those receptions are lost. We find means to give it away, whereas I prefer to do it the other way around. Therefore, I was pleased with it. And if India had caught that fish, I would have been pleased as well. McGrath stated, “I’m not just speaking from an Australian perspective; this is the way it is.”
