A recent development is the appointment of Richard Dawson as Glamorgan’s temporary head coach. Grant Bradburn was abruptly fired due to allegations of misbehaviour in the team’s dressing room, which prompted the move.
Dawson most recently served as the head coach of the England men’s white-ball team after previously managing the England U-19 team. Prior to this, he coached Gloucestershire for six years. In the 2019 County Championship, Gloucestershire finished third, earning promotion to Division One under Dawson’s leadership.
In 2020, he led Gloucestershire to the T20 Blast semi-final. In 2021, he joined the England and Wales Cricket Board’s performance pathway after his time with the county. In a recent interview, Dawson was eager to begin his work with Glamorgan.

My participation with Welsh Fire over the years has given me a solid understanding of the club’s operations. I’m eager to start working with the club’s players and coaches and to build on last season’s success in the 50-over competition.”

Glamorgan’s Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace, praised Dawson’s teaching abilities and expressed his hope that Glamorgan will succeed under his leadership.
“The club is thrilled that we were able to hire a coach of Richard Dawson’s calibre and reputation as temporary head coach till the completion of the current campaign. In order to get someone in place for the 2025 season, we wanted to move swiftly. Richard is the ideal candidate to build the team and keep us moving forward this season,” Wallace said.
In March, Dawson will begin his new position with Glamorgan. He works for the England Lions at the moment. He is then expected to play in the Women’s Premier League. In addition, he will be Welsh Fire’s assistant coach for The Hundred 2025.
