In IPL 2025, KL Rahul made a triumphant return to his home ground at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, leading the Delhi Capitals (DC) to a decisive six-wicket victory over his old team, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The emphasis was drawn to the right-hand batter’s celebration after hitting the winning six, even though he played an amazing knock of 93* off 53 balls.
Rahul was observed pointing to the ground, pumping his chest, and raising his bat like a sword, seemingly indicating, “This is my ground.” As soon as the video went viral, many people thought that the former KL Rahul was back. This location holds special meaning for the 32-year-old, who has amassed 475 IPL runs there at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 144.
RCB appeared to be in for a run-fest when they were asked to bat first. As the hosts rushed to 53 in the opening three overs, Phil Salt hammered 37 off 17. However, RCB’s hitting slumped once Salt left. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam pushed the home team farther behind in the middle overs, limiting them to 163/7 in 20 overs.
But DC’s pursuit got off to a bad start. They were headed for their first defeat of the season, struggling at 58/4 in less than nine overs. KL Rahul, meanwhile, was careful to hold onto one end. Rahul changed his tactics after hitting 29 off 29 balls. Targeting every RCB bowler, the two added 111 runs in just 55 balls with Tristan Stubbs. Rahul blasted Yash Dayal with two sixes and a four in the eighteenth over after taking Josh Hazlewood for 22 in a single over. Stubbs provided the ideal support with a handy 38* off 23. With four straight victories, DC became the first team in the current season to remain undefeated after reaching the target with 13 balls remaining.
“This is my home and my territory. No one knows this better than myself. I had fun playing here. Seeing how it played while I was behind the stumps for 20 overs was helpful. I assumed that the ball sat in the wicket a little bit based on wicketkeeping, but it was constant throughout and wasn’t two-paced. I was aware of my shots. I just wanted to start strong, be aggressive at first, and then evaluate the situation. I understood which pockets to aim for if I wanted to hit a massive six. I was able to gauge the other batters’ performances and the locations of their dismissals thanks to wicketkeeping. After the game, Rahul remarked, “I got lucky with the dropped catch.”
The fans’ reactions to KL Rahul’s flaming celebration against RCB were as follows:
