Gill & Iyer Injury Update from India Coach

Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, the Indian team’s captain and vice-captain, are not playing in the One-Day Internationals against South Africa because they are recovering from their respective injuries. During the Australia trip, Iyer sustained a spleen laceration, and Shubman had to leave the recent Kolkata Test midway due to a neck injury.

Morne Morkel, India’s bowling coach, has now given a significant update on the two top batters’ injury conditions. Prior to the first ODI, Morkel told media that he had spoken with the Indian captain following the second Guwahati Test and was optimistic about his quick recuperation. The same is true for Shreyas, who has already begun getting ready to rejoin the team shortly.

“It would be ideal if the BCCI medical staff provided an update on Shubman Gill’s condition.

Gill is doing well, according to our conversation two days ago when I checked in with him. That’s good to hear, then. It’s fantastic that Shreyas has begun his rehabilitation. We are therefore excited to have them rejoin the team. Before the Ranchi match, Morkel stated, “The good news is that they are healthy and they are beginning their preparation on their way back into the team.”

KL Rahul was selected as the team’s captain for the three games in lieu of the two injured players, and the club has also called up certain people to take the opener and middle-order positions. Alongside Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal is probably going to be the opener. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s presence, however, necessitates more consideration because the Maharashtra batsman has a superior List-A record.

The JSCA International Sports Complex in Ranchi will host the first One-Day International (ODI) of the series on Sunday, November 30. The sides will then travel to Raipur for the second match on December 3 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium. On December 6, the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA International Stadium in Visakhapatnam will host the third and final game of the series.
