The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has declared that Kunduz will host the seventh edition of the Etisalat Ghazi Amanullah Khan List A Tournament for the first time, which is a major development for Afghan cricket.
By introducing elite domestic competition to hitherto untapped areas of the nation, this tournament represents a significant milestone in the growth of cricket throughout the nation. The competition, which will get underway at the Kunduz Cricket Ground on July 10, 2024, marks a significant turning point in Afghanistan’s cricket history. In an interview with The Kabul Times, Sayed Naseem Sadaat, the ACB’s spokesperson and public relations officer, emphasised the significance of this occasion.
He also underlined that the International Cricket Council (ICC) will formally register the tournament’s records. Notably, Maiwand Champions, Pamir Legends, Mahipar Stars, and Hindukush Strikers are the four teams who will play in this year’s competition. There will be 13 matches planned over 16 days in a double round-robin format for the event. The date of the finals is set for July 25.

The choice of Kunduz as the tournament’s host city fits with the ACB’s plan to develop talent throughout Afghanistan’s several areas and decentralise cricket. It is anticipated that this action will motivate nearby communities and attract young cricket players.
List A Cricket Tournament matches to be telecasted live
A combination of elite domestic players and players at the national level will compete in the competition, offering young and aspiring cricketers a great opportunity to get experience and recognition. Since the competition will be shown live on the RTA Sports Channel of National Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA), cricket enthusiasts nationwide will be able to watch the action.

The Enumeration Afghanistan’s domestic cricket framework would not be the same without a tournament, which is essential to player development and the country’s overall cricket progress.
Due to its success, the Afghan cricket calendar’s next two events—the seventh Ahmad Shah Abdali First Class Tournament in September and the ninth Shpageeza Cricket League in August—can now go on.
