Gautam Gambhir picks his all-time India ODI team, leaving out Ganguly and selecting Dhoni and Kohli

The odd omission of both current and previous captains Rohit Sharma and Sourav Ganguly from Gautam Gambhir’s all-time Indian ODI XI was noted. Rahul Dravid was replaced by Gambhir as the Indian team’s head coach following the Men in Blue’s second T20 World Cup victory in June.

The current head coach of the national squad had a riotous first three-match Twenty20 International Series in Pallekele as India thrashed Sri Lanka. Nonetheless, the Lankan Lions triumphed 2-0 in the ensuing ODI series. During the series, Rohit made a comeback to the field and collaborated with Gambhir for the first time since the latter assumed the post of coach.

Despite his amazing record in 50-over international cricket, Rohit was left out of Gambhir’s all-time Indian ODI XI, which he selected in an interview. Pacers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah were among the other prominent absentees. Gambhir selected him along with Virender Sehwag to start, then veteran players Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Prior to master finishers like Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli comes in at number five.

The two frontline spinners selected for the team were Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin, since Harbhajan Singh was ruled out. The two fast bowlers on the team are left-arm seamers Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan, chosen by the two-time Indian Premier League champion captain.

This month, Team India will play at home.

The Indian cricket team’s most recent international match took place in Colombo on August 7 versus Sri Lanka. With the impending two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, they will be playing again. On September 19, the first Test is played at Chennai’s storied MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The second Test, meanwhile, is scheduled to begin on September 27 at Kanpur’s famed Green Park stadium. Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment in the red-ball arena will be this one. India is anticipated to present a formidable team in an effort to maintain their lead in the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings.
